A Boring But Extremely Simple Meal That’s Almost All Protein and Vegetables

This meal is boring. But that’s kind of the point. It’s easy to prepare and is high in protein and low in carbs, which makes it a good meal to have later in the day, on top of being both filling and low in calories, which makes it a good choice if you’re trying to lose weight without starving yourself or you’re doing lots of heavy workouts and feel hungry all the time but want to fill up on something that will stop you from snacking.

Ingredients (this is for three portions)

500g carrots

375g broccoli

Two 145g cans of tuna

Soy sauce

Method

Boil a kettle then chop the vegetables and put them in a pan. Pour the boiled water over them and put on a high heat on the hob for four minutes.

Drain the vegetables and divide them into three containers, then open and drain the tuna and divide that into three as well. You can also add some soy sauce so that it actually tastes of something.

And that’s it! Remember how we already covered how boring it is? Well, we didn’t lie. Still some facts you may find vaguely interesting include that a portion of this contains 27g of protein (who knew that broccoli is over 4% protein?), 16g of carbs (who knew carrots were fairly high in carbs?), 7g of fibre (a decent chunk of the recommended daily amount) and less than 3g of fat (of which virtually none is saturated fat.) Oh, and a single portion contains just over 200 calories!

So there we have it. We didn’t provide this recipe because it’s particularly exciting or delicious, but because it can be usefully placed within your daily intake to help with your fitness goals, and has basically nothing bad in it at all!
